Enclave (Xbox)

Enclave is a serious Hack n' Slash game title for the Xbox and should be taken seriously Enclave
Gameplay
Enclave is mainly like The Mark Of Kri; there really is no need for any sort of plot because of the intense action you will face in it. There is a lot of differences though, it somewhat has a better plot than the Mark Of Kri, and isn’t that brutal but, Enclave does has its moments.
Well what happen are the game forces you to play the light side of the campaign, rather than the dark, but once you beat the game on the light campaign you will be granted the ability to play the dark side. The light side begins when there was a great city and a big bag demon tried to destroy and take over the city but failed, since a great wizard was a huge obstacle and, the demon was then banished, but the wizard did create a huge crack around the whole entire perimeter of the city. Doing this the people separated and began their own beliefs, so the dark side wants revenge and believes that the residents of the city caused them to punished. So, basically the dark side of the land prepares its forces in order to ambush the city and take it over. Supposedly the cracks like all things heal slowly but shortly. And the cracks can be crossed at some point. This is where you begin.
Being arrested for treason you are thrown in jail along with other resellers and Evil, Darker, enemies. You find out that the Dark side is attacking the city and in an explosion you break free of your cell, pick up a sword and start helping out. After you finish your mission then your queens asks you for your help and wants you to help the city defend against the enemies.
Enclave does have it differences and one of them being collecting gold and using it to upgrade your weapons. So in each mission you are informed of how much gold is left in the game and how far you have progressed.
Unfortunately the game has no targeting system at all and can be maddening at sometimes. The biggest drawback of the game is that you are not allowed to save during missions and this can be VERY frustrating a lot of times. The game is very random too, I walked into a room where I was going to collect my loot and finish the game. Well, foolish me I didn’t see the secret pit beneath the floor (its impossible to see) and I instantly died and had to restart the game again.
As you progress further, more gold will be in each mission and new weapons and armor will be unlocked. The game also requires you to be in a rhythm in order to perform combos.

Graphics
The graphics in Enclave are impressive and smooth. Everything seems to be in right order and will also take out some of the negative stuff in the game. One thing that impressed me was the water. Everything was detailed and left unnoticed. The characters were detailed and high quality. The XBOX version did a really good job of producing great graphics. The loading times were short and sweet. One thing that was good was the explosions and fire. Especially when you would hit the enemies with a grenade arrow, and send them flying. The best thing about the graphics was the character detail. Excellent job on that part. I couldn’t find anything wrong with the graphics.

Sound
The sound in the game was average. The most noise made was the clashing and whipping of the weapons. Although I did find it funny to hear the croaks of the assassins, they were screaming like children. One thing I liked about the game is that it was pretty good in voice acting. Moderate language and an above average script. I personally really liked the sound of the various bows being released and then the reloading of the crossbow. Enclave is good in the sound and despite all of the grunts and croaking, the game did provide background music, which had a wide diversity.

Control
The control in Enclave wasn’t bad, nor was it great. One of the biggest problems I experienced with the controls was the much-needed targeting system. This small factor would have greatly improved the game’s difficulty and would have been a lot easier to accomplish missions. One thing that was ok, was the control scheme, it seemed to me that almost every game is taking advantage of the XBOX Controller’s triggers and using them as a very important buttons. Also I didn’t have any trouble with the games camera angles.

Replayability
Enclave did have a good motivation tool for beating the light side of the game, and that was getting to be evil. This is one of my favorite things about games like this, because after helping the people you get to wreak havoc on them. This was a great factor in going through the game once more just to experience the other half of the game.

Fun
The fun in the game was almost completely destroyed from the difficulty of the game and the excluded feature of saving the game during missions. Although I did have a fun time collecting all of the gold and using it to upgrade my weapons and armor. This did have a contributing factor in taking off for the difficulty.

Overall
Enclave is a game worth and rent, but most likely will not be bought unless you are in dire need of a serious hack and slash game for the XBOX. One serious down factor is the excluded ability to save during the game. All in all, Enclave will most definitely be worth a rent and since you can play the Dark side, it should give you a little of motivation.
