Revenge has a new name, and in Payne. Max Payne that is. Max Payne is an undercover cop that has been framed for murdering a fellow undercover cop. You must ggive revenge on the ones who framed you and kill your wife and baby kid.
Max Payne has some features that makes this game looks like The Matrix. This is the first game with Bullet Time motion that slows down the action and see bullets in flight, like a Matrix scene. The best time of seeing a bullet in flight is using a sniper rifle. After you shoot you actually see the bullet in camera veiw following the bullet flying in slow motion untill it hits your target. The graphics make everything and the city a very dark place to be. The main reason for the Mature rating, lots of violence and blood, and I mean LOTS. Blood streaks everywhere, like when you shoot a guy on top a flight of steps, he slides down, streaking a long trail of blood. Or shoot a guy at the wall and blood stains the wall. This is definately not for the kiddies. There is a freaky scene when you get unconscious by poison and you get nightmares that will freak the heebee-geebees out of you. You runn through the halls of you home that looks like its stretch out, listening to baby screams and cries and your wife sobbing. Theres a part where the room is dark and theres a maze streaked with and raining blood, and the trail is platformed, so when you fall off, you have to start back to the beginning of the maze.
The aiming in this game should have been better. Its difficult when trying to aim at a guy when he's shooting at you. Very difficult and frustrating. But this game has an excellent plot and story. Very good voice acting and realistic look faces and body movement. The only bad motion is when a guy is holding a gun. It looks like the guys can't make a fist when holding a gun. But overall, this game is quite amusing and challenging. -- Scott Ladner, PGNx Media ---- May 11, 2002
