Wreckless is a fast-paced racing/destruction game. You can choose from to scenarios. Each has different objectives, and a lot of destruction. Wreckless is a fast-paced racing/destruction game. You can choose from to scenarios. Each has different objectives, and a lot of destruction. The Yakuza (the Japanese Mafia) are causing a lot of trouble in Hong Kong, and it is your duty to stop the mayhem.
You choose between two scenarios. In one you play as two cops and in the other you play as two spy-wannabes. The game is always in a car. You can’t just get out and walk around, or get weapons like in GTA3. Some of the missions are pretty stupid, and would never be done in a car in real life. Most of the missions require you to steal something, destroy something, or rescue someone. The game is really fun. It has some sort of arcade-y feeling to it.
The controls are easy to get used to, but can be confusing at first. A cool feature is that you can turn the camera, as if turning the head of your character. This is done with the left thumb-stick.
This game is great, but what it really lacks is game modes. There’s only Scenario mode available, and all the missions are timed, so u can’t have unlimited fun, or the ability to explore the city.
There aren’t too many cars to choose from, but I like the fact that there are missions that you can’t possibly beat with a certain car.
The sound…well, not much to say about it. The sound the car makes is like in most games. A pretty annoying tire screeching sound is one of them. The engine makes awesome noise, especially when changing gears. The voicing is pretty cheesy. I really don’t listen to the sound in the game. As with most games, I just put a CD into my stereo and listen to my favourite tunes (except for Amped, since it has the ability to play your own music). What I can say is, they could have done a much better job with the sound.
The cut-scenes, although very cheesy, have pretty good graphics. As for the actual game…the graphics are awesome. Although it doesn’t look too realistic, it doesn’t have to, to look great. Almost everything can be destroyed or at least flipped. It’s awesome gun to go on a sidewalk with dozens of dim sum stands, and watching all of them blow up to pieces, while all the people on the sidewalk try to run away, so u don’t run them over.
The only glitch that I have seen in this game, is the fact that you can go through very small posts. The thing is, that’s almost in every game that has a vehicle and something thin (even in Halo you can go through very small trees).
The graphics too, could have been better, but even with what they have put into the game, it still looks great.
This game is awesome fun. It would be so much better if you could somehow disable the timer. You are timed for things that make no sense. Even with that, it’s still great fun. Another thing that this game lacks is game modes. There are only two scenarios and that’s the only mode available. They should have put in free ride mode or something. I really enjoyed this game, but I don't think I would buy it. Maybe, if a cheat to disable the timer comes out.
If you enjoy fast paced games, with a lot of destruction, this is definitely a game you should buy…well, unless you feel like waiting ‘till GTA3 comes out. -- Anonym. Contributor, PGNx Media ---- May 23, 2002
