Ride with de' hawk the 3rd time around on your pc, just hope you wont fall.
Well, TonyHawk3 is here on the glorious pc. What're the changes from the Xbox,ps2,and GC versions? Well for one think, it's made by Gearbox(Actually, Im not sure who developed THPS3 for the consoles..my mistake) and its way better.
The Graphics are an upgrade from the PS2 version, but a MINOR downgrade from the GC and Xbox versions. Everything looks pretty real. Even your skaters faces, once you get a chance to see them. Its a tad bit strange they have a skatepark in Canada, and you use a cruise-ship and LA for skating, but it'll do. All the levels look awesome, there are no noticeable polygons at all. Blood smears are everywhere, and it has very enhanced realism(except for the fact that you cant blow 7 tricks for 20 seconds in the air). You can leave a blood smear on an area, go to a different area(on the same level) for 20 min. and come back and find your blood smear is still there. Although, there is slowdown during tricks, but it is at no way noticeable.
The sound features tricked out bands that play Rock and Metal and some rappers. It has the perfect music for your mood, and you need to turn your speakers pretty loud to hear them when grinding. The sounds sound like real life. Even the peds sound real when they say'' Hey! Bust a move!'' or ''You suck!''. I have to admit, but grinding for over 10 seconds is annoying I hate the rrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh noise the whole time. Still , sounds great.
For anyone who doesnt own a joystick or gamepad for your pc, buy one. Its way hard to try to figure out how to control your skater without one. You'll end up pressing AAVT,click, forward, 7YOP,KEY8BOARD00SUCKS4THPS345 if you dont have one. But anyways, the controls are tight. There almost perfect. No wait, they ARE perfect. Everything responds at the EXACT time you press a button. Deserves a 10 for all I care(I recommend joystick, not many good gamepads out there).
''Whooeeeeeeeeee! Dis' is.....BLARGHF!'' I screamed(and threw up) as I went down a 20 foot half-pipe(for non Extreame types, thats a curving ramp shaped like a U). Its awesome, you have the ability to choose from a ton of riders, change their clothes, board, wheels and trucks. You can even make your own skater FROM SCRATCH with the perfect eyes, weight, height, whatever. The world is yours my friend, at least for the time being that your playing this game. The levels, to me, are a tad bit silly. Using Canada for skating? You'll be sliding all over. Grind the rails on an airport? Cops come after you. Grind down a waterslide? Well of course, you cant. But in this game you can. No cops, nadda. Its your free will. The levels are huge, although theres a lot less then THPS and THPS2. The peds, workers, and others just kinda stand around. They dont do much. But they encourage you to Bust-Uh-Move,and,yeah, they dont say the same thinks twice, thank goodness(but if they do, RUN' 'EM OVER! Ho Ho Ho!). My favorite pick of levels(if you care) is LA. Its fun to skate on a free-way and get run over by the icecream man and cops. Theres a moving enviorment, but as I said, peds stand in place,USUALLY.
Now all I can say is Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 is the best skateboarding game out there. Even if you dont skate or have any interest in doing it, just get THPS3 to get some of the greatest gaming goodness of your life. -- Anonym. Contributor, PGNx Media ---- May 22, 2002
